TURN LEFT - A SCI-FI ONE-DAY EVENT IN CARDIFF - SATURDAY, DECEMBER 1st, 2018

TURN LEFT is a special one-day event at the Novotel Cardiff Centre in support of Anoraks Series Two.
We are pleased to announce that our current line up of guests includes the wonderful Louise Jameson, who is without doubt a Doctor Who fan-favourite, the talented actor-turned-author Matthew Waterhouse, and the incomparable film actress Sarah Douglas, who you are more likely to see on the massive comicon circuit than at an intimate gathering such as our one-day event. We are also pleased to have illustrator and painter Chris Achilléos, former Doctor Who Script Editor Andrew Cartmel, and music composer Mark Ayres, who is best known for providing incidental music during the Sylvester McCoy era of Doctor Who. Chris Achilléos will be making a special visual presentation which will be a look back on his considerable portfolio of work.
Additionally, our line-up also includes former BBC Worldwide Producer & Director Ed Stradling, Writer & Producer Chris Chapman, and Actor, Writer and Stand-up Comedian, Toby Hadoke. Chris has written several audio productions for Big Finish's Doctor Who and UNIT ranges, co-produced the animation for the missing episodes of The Ice Warriors, and is currently producing new extra material for the Doctor Who Blu-Ray range. He will be joining Ed Stradling and Toby Hadoke on stage for a special presentation.
We are also fortunate to have the Head of Publishing for the award-winning Cardiff-based independent book publisher, Candy Jar Books, Shaun Russell along with authors Chris Lynch, Simon A. Forward, Alyson Leeds and Andy Frankham-Allenfrom various ranges including the popular Lethbridge-Stewart series.
Joining the merchandise tables are Cardiff-based Deadstar Publishing, who specialise in publishing works of fantasy, science fiction and horror from artists and writers all over the world. Established in 2010, Deadstar Publishing enjoys promoting new talent, so if you have something you'd like them to consider publishing, we recommend that you check them out and have a chat!
Please be aware that we will be filming at the convention during the day and the event itself will form the backdrop of two of our episodes. As attendees, you may find yourselves in the background of our shots! But also, if you would like a more obvious cameo, we will be filming in Autograph Room A between 11am and 12pm, so if you would like to appear as an extra, please let one of our volunteer staff know when you register.
You will also get the chance to meet some of the cast and guest cast of Anoraks in person when they are not filming, and a special Anoraks panel will feature the exclusive screening of episode six of Series Two,"Target: Apocalypse" - nearly an entire month before we release it on-line!
That said, aside from filming, we are planning to run the event as a normal convention that will include panels and presentations with all of our guests, signing sessions, photo studio opportunities, intimate coffee-breaks with our guests, a cosplay contest with a cash prize, a fabulous quiz and a whole lot more!
Standard Entry tickets to TURN LEFT have returned to £40 and will give you access to the entire event, a special commemorative booklet, and one free autograph with each of our featured guests.
We are also introducing a "Just Panels Entry" ticket priced at £25 for those who would like to attend the event but do not wish to get any autographs.
As well, Child Entry Tickets are available for £15 as long as the child is accompanied by a paying adult. Children will receive one free autograph per featured guest.
There are no limits to the amount of Candy Jar Books authors' autographs you can get and they will also have a selection of novels and factual books on hand to sell on the day. Please note that Candy Jar Books authors are subject to availability.
Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis and the convention is limited to no more than 130 attendees. We ask that you print out your tickets and present them at the Registration desk in the Notovel on the day. Registration starts at 9 am in the lobby of the hotel. After 10 am, Registration will take place on the 1st floor, so follow our signs!
Designed for the serious fan out there, this exclusive pass will not only get you entry to the event, but also all three individual photo studio photographs, three free autographs per featured guests (Sarah, Louise and Matthew), one free autograph with Chris, Andrew and Mark, priority seating in the front two rows of the main hall and priority access to all the signing sessions.
AUTOGRAPHS & SELFIES
Aside from the free autographs already included in your entry fee (or the three free autographs with the Gold Pass), additional autographs will be on sale at the Registration Desk or in Autograph Room A throughout the day for £5 each. You must pre-purchase an additional autograph token from the Registration Desk. We will also have a limited variety of photo stills available to buy.
Photographic prints are priced at £10 each and this price includes an autograph/dedication. In addition, three specially commissioned TURN LEFT montages of our guests by American artist Marshall Tankersley will also be available for £10 (including an autograph/dedication).
We have scheduled two autograph sessions per featured guest so you have even more opportunities to meet and greet the guests and have your items signed.
One digital photo with each of our guests will be allowed at your autograph session so long as you keep the interaction brief and not hold up the queue. You can take a "selfie" or ask one of our volunteer staff members to assist you in taking the photo.
OTHER PHOTOS FOR SALE
Our current Anoraks cast will also have a promotional image to purchase along side the specially commissioned print illustrated by Chris Achilléos featuring our series one cast drawn in a Target book-style. All prints will be priced at £10 and will include autographs by Andreas Constantinou and Brian Smith. We would love to meet you in person, so visit us in Autograph Room A between 1:15 pm and 1:45 pm. In addition, Anoraks author and creator Darren Floyd will be signing a special limited edition of his latest novel, Oblivion Black.

TURN LEFT is offering a professional Photo Studio whereby you can get a photo taken on the day with your chosen guest.Tickets for the photo studio may be pre-purchased along with your entry ticket, or purchased at the event itself from the Registration Desk. Each photo studio photo is priced at £10.
Our special Multi-Guest Event Photograph will be a photo of all or as many of our featured guests as you want and you, and is priced at £15. We welcome any reasonable size group of attendees to pose with our guests in any single photograph but request that, you print out your tickets and bring them with you to the event as proof of purchase.
There is no limit to the amount of photos you can purchase and we have made every effort to schedule photo studios early enough in the day so that you can have the option of getting those photos signed later. Please allow approximately an hour after the photo session before picking up your prints. We've posted approximate times for Photo Studio photograph pick-ups.
COFFEE BREAKS WITH THE GUESTS
While tickets last, we are also offering the special opportunity for you to have a more intimate conversation with each of our guests in the comfort of the Novotel lobby lounge. Each "Coffee Break" session is priced at £10 in advance (£15 on the day if there are any spots left), and includes a cup of tea or filter coffee. All sessions will run between 40 - 45 minutes. Numbers will be strictly limited to TEN attendees only.
Please note that the Coffee Break with Louise Jameson is nearly sold out and there are six spots left for Sarah Douglas - so get your tickets before they are all gone! Also, we are offering a special coffee break with both Andrew Cartmel and Mark Ayres.

CONVENTION CODE OF CONDUCT
While every effort is being made to present TURN LEFT as a family-friendly event, please be aware that there will be a lot of adult-oriented activities including talks on stage and queues for autograph signings which may not be entirely entertaining for younger folk.
COSPLAY AT TURN LEFT
TURN LEFT is also a cosplayer-friendly event, and we would very much like to encourage all cosplayers out there to come to the event dressed in any character of your choice. Please don't feel limited to the worlds of Doctor Who or Superman either. What we'd really love to see is a real range of costumes and our judging panel of celebrities will be giving out a fabulous cash prize for the best costume at the closing event of the day. Entry forms will be available at the Registration Desk or in your Event programme, so don't be shy!
SUPPORTING CHARITIES ON WORLD AIDS DAY
And finally, as we are holding this event on World AIDS Day, we will also be accepting donations of any size, and will split whatever amount is raised between the National AIDS Trust and the Terrence Higgins Trust (Wales). There will be red ribbons and donation boxes at the Registration Desk and/or in the Autograph Rooms.
FRIDAY NIGHT COCKTAIL PARTY EXCLUSIVE
For those of you who will be in town on the Friday evening, we will be hosting a Drinks Reception Cocktail Party at the Novotel Hotel between 8 and 10 pm. Our Anoraks cast and crew will be in attendance as well as many of our TURN LEFT guests. Tickets are pre-paid only and are limited to 25 people. Included in the price is one free drink - a bottled beer, a glass of wine, a mixed drink or a non-alcoholic beverage. Please print out your Cocktail Party tickets and bring them with you to the hotel. We will be hosting the Cocktail Party in the West Balcony room on the 1st Floor. Attending guests will be subject to availability.
Aside from that, we hope that you will enjoy our little event and support us as we conclude filming on our second series. Please respect the guests and their privacy during the course of the event as there will be many official opportunities for you to have a chat with them.
GETTING TO THE CONVENTION
The Novotel Cardiff Centre is very conveniently located a short walk or taxi drive from Cardiff Central Rail Station. If you are driving, parking is charged on-site at £4 a day and is first-come, first-served. Please note that the Novotel has limited parking and the majority of that is reserved for guests. Public transportation is obviously the better option!
